Brendan Valley is a Pittsburgh-based game designer and programmer. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Entertainment Technology at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center. He also has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
Valley’s love of retro gaming fuels his practice. He endeavors to create games that celebrate the pixel-based style of the 80s while infusing modern touches that reflect the current gaming landscape. Valley’s independent approach to game making includes crafting characters and visuals in the pixel-art style, programming in several different languages, and composing music for games in both 8-bit and contemporary styles.
During his time in undergrad, Valley worked as both a visual artist for the University Of Pittsburgh Vibrant Media Lab’s Odyssey Now project and as a sound design instructor for the National High School Game Academy.
In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, drawing, and making art with Perler beads.
